Introduction
Rwanda Traffic Rule (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
This policy applies to the Rwanda Traffic Rule mobile application (the “App”), available on Android.
Data We Collect
2.1 Account Information
- Full name — to personalise your experience
- Phone number — used as your unique login credential
2.2 Device Identifier
We collect a SHA-256 hashed Android ID (a device fingerprint). This is a one-way hash of your device's Settings.Secure.ANDROID_ID. It cannot be reversed to reveal the original identifier.
🔒 The device ID is stored only as a cryptographic hash — never in plaintext.
⚠️ Security Login Check: For your protection, the app verifies both your phone number and your registered device ID at login. No password is required. If you log in from a new or unregistered device, access will be denied. Contact us to register a new device.
2.3 Exam Results & Progress
We store your practice exam scores, quiz attempts, and learning progress so you can track your improvement over time.
2.4 Subscription Data
If you subscribe to premium features, we record your subscription tier and activation date. Payment is processed externally via MTN MoMo Pay — we do not store or have access to your Mobile Money PIN or financial account details.
2.5 Offline Cache
The App caches exam data and your results locally on your device so you can study without internet. This data syncs to our server when connectivity is restored.
How We Use Your Data

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the App's educational function.
Data Storage & Security
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+). The App does not permit cleartext HTTP traffic.
- Personal data is stored on secured servers.
- The device identifier is stored only as a SHA-256 hash — never in plaintext.
- We employ industry-standard security measures including input validation, parameterised database queries, and access controls.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal data with any third party.
- No third-party analytics SDKs are embedded in the App
- No advertising networks receive your data
- No data is shared with government bodies, examination authorities, or driving schools
Data may only be disclosed if required by applicable law or a valid court order.
Data Retention
- Your data is retained for as long as your account is active.
- If you delete your account (via Profile → Delete Account), all personal data is permanently erased from our servers within 30 days.
- Locally cached data is removed when the App is uninstalled.
Your Rights
- Access — View your personal data at any time through the App (Profile section)
- Correct — Update your name or phone number through your profile settings
- Delete — Remove your account and all associated data
- Withdraw consent — By deleting your account
- Data portability — Contact us to request a copy of your data
Children's Privacy
The App is intended for driving theory exam preparation. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
